A lot of these old Nazi films have been posted online, some even with English subtitles. This one (not subtitled) “Der Fuchs von Glenvaron” (“The Fox of Glenvaron”) was an anti-British propaganda feature film using the Irish independence movement as a backdrop plot. The film concerns a British councilor villain (Ferdinand Marian) who deals behind the scenes against the Irish. He’s really a schemer and scoundrel who gets paid well to keep the Irish rebels on their toes. His beautiful wife (Olga Tsechowa) sympathizes with the freedom fighters, falls in love with one of them (Karl Ludwig Diehl), turns against her husband (confessing his crimes before an Irish fehmegericht) and he is hanged. By the end of the film, the British are beaten back, the rebels celebrating with a rousing torch march through the Irish moor. Does anyone know the song ? May have been written for the film. It’s words have to do with freheit (freedom). Anyway, it’s an interesting film.

Thanks for the reply. I had to use a synopsis to follow the film so I missed a lot of dialogue (I don’t speak German). Still, the movie is entertaining and it shows how good the Nazis were at making propaganda. The dance sequence was copied from “Dorf im Roten Sturm” (aka “Friesenot”) The same actor appears in both films.

Hi J. Duncan,
With your 3491 answers since 2008, you should be able to speak German to some extent...
Our language is really not that difficult, I wish you every success, as a German I can also exchange ideas more or less well here...
