Spain in Arms, 30s film, propaganda?

Post by Vance Pollock » 20 May 2002 17:34

I am looking for information on a film entitled "Spain in Arms" (ca. 1930s) which I believe is a pro-German documentary of the Spanish Civil War.
The film is reported to have been shown at a Los Angeles meeting of William Dudley Pelley´s Silver Legion of America (Silvershirts).
A friend tells me that he saw this reel, along with a Silvershirt film, in an antique flea market in Chicago some years ago.
The film is mentioned in the brown scare title Under Cover by John Roy Carlson (see index).
Was this an English version prepared for Silvershirt audiences from a European film? I would be interested in the history of any English language motion picture propaganda, but specifically examples from the Silvershirt film bureau.
