To me all the value of "Der Untergang" lies in Bruno Ganz's amazing, amazing performance. The rest is less relevant. I can't forget the first time he appeared in the film (walking through that door and thanking the ladies for coming so late) and myself thinking: "Damn - that
is Hitler."
There are errors in ranks/insignia in "Cross of Iron" (incl. Steiner's), but, as we know, the value of the film is not in such details
What I liked about "Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter" requires a longer reply, for which I don't have the time. But the details I particularly liked (loved) about it had least to do with history and most with human nature (which is, sadly, often absurd
