...but not German and definately not a Nazi.Surfkorps wrote:http://us.imdb.com/Name?Banner,+John+(I)
sorry that link didn't work...and besides he was Austrian as well
Logan Hartke
I agree, but believe it or not as far as farb is concerned I have not noticed any inaccuracies in their uniforms.....of all the episodes I've seen anyway.Surfkorps wrote:LOL...Hogan's Heroes wasnt very realistic...but spot on with Michael Byrne....fabulous played nazi
This is huge. Saving Private Ryan broke the rules of authenticy time and time again. A bridge too far is one of the worst movies for the representation of German soldiers as well.
Not saying I didn't enjoy the movies, but they didn't pay too much attention to history.

In addition to Banner and Robert Clary, other cast members of the "Hogan's Heroes" show were also Jewish actors. Werner Klemperer, who played Col. Klink was Jewish, the son of musical conductor, Otto Klemperer who fled the National Socialist regime in Germany. Howard Caine, who played the "Gestapo" officer, Major Hochsteter was also Jewish. Interesting to note.Sergeant Schultz in the TV series "Hogan's Heroes" (1965). But there remains a certain irony: John Banner was Jewish.
