Re: Game: guess from which war/historical movie is the picture?
Speaking of war movies: can anyone recommend a good movie depicting the life of the Luftwaffe on the Eastern Front? Mainly pilots, but other aspects also. I've seen umpteen RAF and USAF movies, but never something of that nature.
Sorry if this isn't strictly in line with the topic, but I figured you must all be movie buffs to be reading this forum!
Thanks.

Herr von thoma was right.
The movie was "Hans Westmar – Einer von vielen" from the year 1929.

@ Glider42
"Feuertaufe - Der Film vom Einsatz unserer Luftwaffe im polnischen Feldzug" from 1939/40 probably interesting for you.

Hahaha...
"Unser Bastian", Herr Horst Janson appeared in a WW2 war movie, new to me, sorry...
He always performed as "Grandmothers Darling" in most of his movies, and TV series, even my grandma loved
his "character"... (The perfect son in law...)
No idea, sorry..?
For a typical "germanic warrior", he was always to nice, to "sweet" , which probably ruined his career a bit.
But that's another topic...
Hans
P.S. Two(?) german actors from the 1981 movie "Das Boot" in the stillshot...

Hans, you should know it!
An english actor with an irish name playing an irish named character conducting his own war on the kriegsmarine might help you.

Hmm, maybe the British actor is Brian Keith and the movie is "The McKenzie Break (Ausbruch der 28)" about German POW's especially from the Submarine branch of the Kriegsmarine who charged hard to break out. I saw this movie maybe 20 years ago.

The McKenzie Break?? That flick is a stinkeroo all the way, stupid as stupid can get. I I recall a bio video Brian Keith did for the LA Film Institute way way back, he hated the flick but needed the work due to no longer being offered any acting parts
Re: Game: guess from which war/historical movie is the picture?
Thanks, Hans. I will check out those two movies. I am surprised that there aren't any "commercial" movies depicting the Luftwaffe's war in the East, a la "Cross of Iron".Hans1906 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2021, 10:32@ Glider42
