You‘re good Robert. I too guessed the “Gustloff“ but could not find the correct connection.

Thanks Waleed, I read some years/ decades ago Günter Grass' "Im Krebsgang" and heard for the first time of the man behind the Gustloff sinking and his troubled life as an anti-hero.
If my answer was correct, I can pass my turn or I will need some time to deliver the next riddle.
Best regards
Robert

Was it the American actor Cornel Wilde (Kornel Weisz) in the film you're looking for, I'm not sure..?
Unfortunately, many faces look very similar, probably I am completely wrong.

Cornel Wilde is not here ( USMC ), these are soldiers of the Big Red One....

Ok ...Oran or Omaha Beach. I'm thinking Omaha Beach.
Let's see, its not the Longest Day or Overlord. It's also not Shaving Ryan's Privates (that is in color), It's not Screaming Eagles.
I'm going to guess Breakthrough

Thanks Gorque,
Personally, I would advocate a link to each puzzle solved... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_Half_Times_in_Hell
I'm pretty sure, that the above film was only known to a few readers here in the topic, me for example not at all, unfortunately.
No offense!

It is our "educational mission" not to die stupid, we should work on that for as long as possible...The Lexikon des Internationales Films describes the work as "an equally impressive film in terms of content and form". Sandro Forte on Cinetalk praised the patient and efficient construction of the story by the writing duo Fábri/Bacsó. The artistic camera work and the portrayals of the main actors Sinkovits and Garas are also praised. In conclusion, he describes the film as a wonderful sports and war drama.
No offense!
