#1

[Several threads dealing with "The World at War" soundtrack have been merged by the music section host, Ivan Ž.]

There is a German Army Marching song i heard in 'The World At War' i believe it was in the Barbarossa one. I can't remember the name of it. It's Not the 'Panzerlied' or 'Horst Wessel Lied', that much I do know. If anyone can help please do. It's something like 'kommeraden' or 'Soldaten' i knew it a few years back...now I don't and my brain is going to explode.
Thanks In Advance.

Gareth, the song you're thinking about may be called "Wenn die Soldaten". If it is the episode where music starts up, right when the flag of old Imperial Germany changes into the Swastika flag, then I know I'm right. It's a very catchy song, one of my favorties! :D

Regards!

I remember when I almost went mad trying to find that song. It's very catchy, and the wonderful Third Reich nuts at this board helped me! Thanks guys! If you want the translated lyrics, just holler. Regards!

Japanese Military Song

#5

Post by Lawrence » 10 Jan 2003, 01:02

Hello everyone, I need some help in identifying a Japanese song used during World War Two. In the documentary series "The World at War", in the episode entitled 'Banzai' there is a scene at the end of the episode, when Singapore falls. It shows the British being forced to watch the Japanese drive past, there is a song playing. If anyone has any idea on what that song is and where to download it, I'd be so grateful. Thanks alot, regards!

Edit: Here's a clip of the episode. The song starts at 5:58.

The World at War

I don't know the name of this song/march. It appears in the World at War series on DVD during a sequence when Hitler is riding a train thru Germany after the defeat of France. It goes something like "Bom baderassa bom baderassa bom" at times, it's very lively. Does anyone know a site or such that has a downloadable version of it or just it's name to start with?

Regards

I downloaded the "military version" a few months ago, I uploaded it here. The quality isn't too good, but it's listenable :)

Soviet Song Identification- Please Help!

#11

Post by Lawrence » 07 Jun 2004, 19:45

I was watching the series 'The World at War' last night, specifically the episode entitled 'Red Star', which dealt with the Soviet war effort and the battle of Kursk, and noticed a very catchy song at the end of the episode. It happened right when the soldiers were marching through the liberated town at the end. Does anyone have any idea on what the name of this song is and where I can download it? Best regards!

Edit: I was wondering if I could record a sample of the song in question and post it, could somebody identify it?

I probably could help. I became interested in Soviet songs after watching a 3-part documentary on the Red Army. One song in particular I loved had black and white footage of a man singing in a car - whilst the geetar slowly played in the background. If you send me the sound file I'll probably be able to identify the song.

I'd recommend anyone into Soviet songs to buy 'The Best of the Red Army Choir' - it's a very good purchase.

World at War Song

#14

Post by Lawrence » 17 Mar 2005, 04:12

Hi, in the episode of the series 'the World at War' entitled 'Inside the Reich', there is a song that is played during the scenes of the invasion of Russia. It is played right after Hans Kehrl mentions what good trade agreements Germany had with the Soviet Union. The singer is a woman, but I have no idea what the song is about or titled. Anyone know what this song is?
