Josef Gruber Edler von Rehenburg
born on 2 March 1827 in Königgrätz.
Served in the infantry and participated in battles in 1849, 1859 and 1866.

In 1879 he was promoted to an Austrian nobleman with more than thirty-year exemplary military service, with the "Rehenburg aristocrat" prediction and coat of arms. The award of J. V. C. and K. Joseph took place on 28 November 1879
At that time in the rank of Captain (Hauptmann) Class 1 32nd Infantry Regiment (Landbranean Infantry Regiment No. 32 / Landwehrinfanterieregiment Nr 32).

From 1 November 1888 until his retirement, he was the deputy commander of the military invalid in Trnava. He retired in 1890 and lived in Vienna IX, Lichtensteinstrasse 147.

Awarded to him was this distinction:
Marian Cross of the Teutonic Order (awarded in 1901), Knight's Cross of the Order of Franz Joseph, Military Merit Cross (awarded in 1868), War Medal 1873, Jubilee Commemorative Medal 1898, military service Badge 3. Class for officers for 25 seniority years.

He died on 21 January 1909 in Vienna at the age of 82 and is buried in Friedhof Rodaun.

His offspring lived / lives in Austria and Germany.
