Anyone interested in the specific kuk military should check out "Beyond Nationalism: A social and political history of the Habsburg Officer Corps 1848-1918" by Istvan Deak.

F. Morton, A Nervous Splendor. Archduke Rudolf, Maria Vetsera, the Emperor, family politics and also Austro-Hungarian politics.

Any other opinions about this book from forum members? Morton seems to attract a lot of critics.

Read about Austro-Hungarian small arms (mostly in German):
Erich Gabriel: Die Hand- und Faustfeuerwaffen der Habsburgischen Heere (Oesterreichister Bundesverlag, Wien, 1990)
Heino Hintermeier: In Der Stunde Der Not (VS-Books, 2003)
Josef Motz & Joschi Schuy: Vom Ursprung der Selbstladepistole, Osterreich-Ungarn 1884-1918 (www.waffenbuecher.com 2007)
Mathieu Willemsen: Experiment and Trial (Verlag Militaria, 2012)
