Oberstleutnant Karl von Möller

#1

Post by IanE » 10 Jan 2023, 11:39

Good evening all,

I am hopeful that someone may be able to assist me with the following officer. Oberstleutnant Karl von Moller (Lauterach, 16 Mar 1873 - ).
Promoted to Oberstleutnant 01 Nov 1915 as a member of the General Staff he was serving in Infantry Regiment 65 in 1918.

Is anyone able to confirm (or not) his promotion to Oberst on or about 01 Nov 1918?
Thanks,
Ian

Dear Ian,

I would assume that Möller (not: Moller) wasn´t promoted to Oberst i.G. with 01.11.1918.

You can see in Rangliste 1916 the procedure of the Generalstabsoffiziere with Möller between Staic and Makowiczka.

And you can see the Personalverordnungsblatt from November 1918 with the promotions to Oberst i.G. Here is missing Rangnummer 123, which would have been Möller. But Möller was transferred to the infanterie rank list this time. Therefore he was left back. In my opinon he would have been promoted to Oberst with 01.05.1919.

Regards

Christian

Chrisitian,

Thank you for the information regarding Karl Möller (not Moller as I had written).

Regards,
Ian

Hello,

Are you sure that the birth dates are correct? The Karl Möller who was born on 16.03.1873 in Lauterach/Vorarlberg died on 17.11.1913 in Vienna and was a merchant. I suppose your man is the more famous Karl Leopold Edler von Möller.

Hi Jake,

I found the address on the Österreichisches Staatsarchiv site during a search and thought (wrongly) that that was 'my man' as the birth date tended to fit. The link to the 'other' Karl Möller is definitely the right one.
