Thank you Christian, that's great info! Can I ask your source(s) - I presume that a lot is based on the Heeresverordnungsblatt. Are these available online?

Kind regards,

VJK

PVBl. from 1914 - 1918 has online access.
VBl. from 1919 - 1938 not.

Further to my list of Generale, I have found this source that states that Georg Hohenberger was General der Infanterie.

I doubt on that because the "General der Infanterie" was re-introduced in 1934 after Hohenbergers death.

Hi Christian,
As you stated, the rank of FMLt. was only re-introduced in 1934, but as per the list I posted, there was a whole host of General der Infanterie and Artillerie promoted to that rank before 1934.

Kind regards,

VJK

Sorry, I was wrong. The "General der ...." was re-introduced with 1.1.1930.

I cannot find any regulation regarding "Generale" who were promoted before 1930 but it is possible that they could come in for "General der ...". But this was not published in VBl.

In case of Metzger:

He became "General" on 26.03.1929 and "General der Infanterie" effective with 01.01.1930. Because of his RDA 26.03.1929 he was listed as GdI with this date.

Just as an example.

Kindest

Christian
