Post by JakeV » 29 Sep 2013 20:06

Generalmajor Johann von Sagburg zu Pfefferslehensegg, Gößelsheimb und Gallo di Escalada (can also be found as Pfeffer, Lehensegg, Göllsheimb und Gallo di Escalado) was a k.u.k. and later österr. Bundesheer officer.

01.11.1928 – 31.03.1933 Kdt. Alpenjäger–Regiment 9
01.04.1933 – 31.07.1933 Kdt. 5. Brigade

Does anyone have his date and place of birth and death?

Well, gentlemen, I have to say I'm astonished! 8O

Searching in Wiener genealogisches Taschenbuch, I have found a Hans (von) Sagburg usw. (Hans is probably a variant of Johannes), * 16.04.1879 in Wien, Generalstabsoberst a. D. (living in Waltendorf bei Graz in 1926). Perhaps it's our man.

Again, thank you for your invaluable input!

It amazes me how you are able to assemble such facts for a proper biography – one which essentially started from scratch!

Congratulations and a happy new year!

So, if I am not mistaken, Sagburg was retired at some point during the 1920s – it is amazing that he was able to make it to the higher echelons of the Bundesheer!
