Forum Members,

I have been compiling a list of AH infantry regiments but am missing details for the 103rd - 108th infantry regiments which existed between (?)1916 and early 1918, said to be formed from march formations and improvised units.

Can anyone provide answers to the following please?

103rd/104th IR -

1. When were these regiments formed?
2. When were they renumbered 203rd/204th?

105th/106th-

3. When were these regiments formed?
4. When were they disbanded?

107th/108th-

5. When were these regiments formed?
6. how many battalions did each have and what were they formed from?

Thanks,
Martin :)

IR 103 got it's number in October 1915.

104-109 IR were created in 1916.
108 IR was dissolved by the end of 1916 and 109 IR at the start of 1917.

In October 1917 remaining 103-107 IR were renumbered to 203-207 and new 103-138 IR were created by stripping battalions from existing regiments.

Thanks for the Information Greg.

I am still interested in finding out more about the original 1916-1917 107th & 108th IRs (not the later ones formed in 1918) because I can find no mention of them in any order of battle. Where were they based while they existed, how many battalions dd they have and what troops were they formed from?

You may want to confirm that, but IR 107 shows up as part of 143 LBrig. / 72.ID / XXI Corps /1st AH Army on Romanian Front as of 23 July 1917. It had 3 battalions.

IR 108 existed only a couple of months in 1916 and was never assigned to any unit.
