VagenhofferRelative-VeszpremHungary.jpg
This photograph, unmarked except by the Veszprem, Hungary photographry studio, is in family archives from immigrants from a village near Veszprem to the United States in 1904-1908. We would like to know an experts' opinion on the nature of the young man's uniform. Thank you in advance.

:welcome:

I don't claim to be an expert, but to me he looks like Hungarian Infantry Private (Honvéd).
Based on time/place info you provided, he could be a member of Székesfehérvárer Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment Nr.17, of which III and IV battalions were based in Veszprém.

Yeah, but NOT circa 1905 as in question. Those data are from 1914...

Why not? Are You have a Dislocation or Schematismus lists of Honved units of this period?

Is there an online source for lists of privates? The picture was in the effects of a woman named Theresa Vagenhoffer (or Wagenhoffer), who was born in a village near Veszprem in 1891 and who arrived in the US in 1908. Her father was named Thomas W(V)agenhoffer, but perhaps this is a brother or cousin, unless such uniforms were also used earlier?
