I found that site while researching my grandfather last week, but since I didn't know in which regiment my grandfather served, I wasn't sure what to look for. With your reminder, I have searched through the last two volumes for information on the 309 Honved IR, as well as the 15th. Though I don't have any specific knowledge of his service from Brzezany in early 1917 to Ekaterinaslov in late 1918, it sounds like he had a very active time of it.GregSingh wrote:Yes, you are right!
It's 309th Honved Infantry Regiment. It was part of 55 ID in 1917, later renamed to 155 Hon ID.
Have you seen this book? http://www.comroestudios.com/StanHanna/
Hopefully you will find some answers there...
Is there a "best" place to try to find any official documents of his service that might exist? I have seen many references to the Kriegsarchiv in Wien, but also some to an archive in Budapest. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
