IR66, circa 1917-1918

I have been unable to locate any surviving records of my grandfathers military service during WW1 so I am attempting to at least understand where he potentially served.

I am working under several presumptions -- and I'm certainly open to opinions/comments on whether they are valid or not.

My grandfather was born in 1899 in the village of Hlivištia (Sobrance District in the Košice Region of today's east Slovakia). Per recruiting district maps, this area fell to VI Corps (Kassa/Kashau) and more specifically Infanterieregiment 66. Confusing (to me) is what appears to be detached battalions --1. and 3. battalions located near Kashau and 2. battalion sitting near Ungvar. I'm unsure of which battalion the village of Hlivištia supplied manpower to?

In an earlier post (from several years ago), it appears birth years 1899 and 1900 were called up in 1917.

Is there any way to determine which battalion within IR66 he served -- i.e. did recruiting districts provide manpower at the battalion level? And where did IR66 serve in 1917/18?

I'm assuming IR66 was a KuK unit rather than Honved. Not sure if that's even correct?

The Austrian official history "Austro-Hungary's last war 1914-1918" is online and mentioned on this site. These volumes have OOBs for both sides in them with some work you can follow this unit throughout the war.

Thanks for the link.

Really frustrating at how little info survived. Apparently there was a fire in the village church back in the 1970s which consumed whatever local records remained.
