FML Richard Jellenchich

Wondering if anyone has information on Feldmarschalleutnant Richard Jellenchich (16 Jul 1868 - 23 Mar 1954), I ask because this man and his awards are confusing me no end. I have tried searching for more information, but information on him is scarce (as is a picture of him) ☹

I have Feldmarschalleutnant (29 May 1918) Richard Jellenchich for the following awards: MVK 2.(KDS), EKO-R2.(KDS), LO-R(KDS), EKO-R3 (KD), MVK 3.(KDS), MVK 3, BMVM, D3, MJM 98 and MJK 08, and possibly an EK 2.

The Generale und Obersten Stand vom 17. Februar 1915 (page 16), and the Generale und Obersten Stand vom 27 September 1915 (page 11) have him listed with an EKO-R3. However, his EKO-R3 does not appear in the k.k. Landwehr Schematismus 1914, nor is it listed in the k.u.k. Ranglisten for 1916, 1917 and 1918.

Additionally, there is no entry for Richard Jellenchich in the 1914, 1915, 1916, 1917 nor 1918 Hof- und Staats Handbuch (that I could find) for an EKO-R3 with or without the KD. Actually, the only listing for him is the award of his LO-R in late 1914 (P.B.Vl. 105/14).

What I would like to know is?
• was awarded an EKO-R3 (KD)?
• If he was awarded an EKO-R3 was it a case of a simple compilation error that was replicated without ever being corrected in the Rangliste, or was his EKO-R3 withdrawn for some reason (very hard to imagine)?

Hi Ian,

Jellenchich received following orders in WW1:

25.12.1914 Ritterkreuz des Leopold-Ordens mit Kriegsdekoration (A.h.E., Präs. 18.335 v. 26.12.1914) as Chef der Generalstabsabteilung des 2. Armeekommandos

04.11.1915 Militärverdienstkreuz 2. Kl. mit der Kriegsdekoration (A.h.E., Präs. 24.008 v. 05.11.1915) - without detailed designation of his function

04.06.1918 Orden der Eisernen Krone 2. Kl. mit der Kriegsdekoration (A.h.E., Präs. 21.489 v. 23.06.1918) - without detailed designation of his function

I could just find out that he received the "Kriegsdekoration zum MVK.3." after 1914.

I would think that the entry with EKO.3.KD in Rangliste 1916 is wrong.

He was listed as Kmdr of Ldw Inf Brig 187 as part of 44 Ldw Div in Stan Hanna's English translation of Österr Ungarns Letzter Krieg 1914 1918 (these OOBs seem to be additional of what Glasie-Horstenau et. al. had priginally compiled)
