DER HOFBURG PALAST WIEN

#1

Just watched on TV the new year's day concert from the Musikvereinssaal in the Austrian capital. "Herrlich wunderbare Musik", as expected, but as there was no audience permitted, they broadcast some amazing shots of the interior of some of the royal palaces.

First the royal regalia of Liechtenstein, including an enormous, gold covered state coach. Then the interior of the Austrian Kaiser's appartments in the Hofburg-Palast. Wonderful decorations everywhere, red silk on the walls, gold and silver plates and cutlery - simply stunning!

Also superb portraits of the Kaiser and Kaiserin on the walls, some when they were young, unless they were portraits of their children?

I would love to have visited Vienna, but will have to make do with my memories of Herrenhausepalast in Hannover, Germany.

Kindest regards, Frohes neues Jahr,
Christopher
