Yes, I'm afraid we're going to need more clues - you've picked a good one there!

Kind regards,

VJK

Adolf Heyrowsky (18.02.1882 - 1945)

I did not have him on my screen because he did not serve in Bundesheer.

Christian

Yes Christian, that‘s the “AH” I was looking for. Found him interesting as I was trying to find something different to the quiz. The “Luftfahrtruppen“ sounded good and Adolf Heyrowsky too. An interesting man as I’m sure your next person will be too.

I will try a new one. As you can see he served in exotic fields. He died for Gott, Kaiser und Vaterland in late 1914.

Regarding Heyrowsky, he did not die in 1945. Here are the complete dates:

Oberst Adolf Carl Johann Heyrowsky
* 18.02.1882 in Murau/Steiermark
† 05.10.1948 in Bodenmais/Niederbayern

Eltern: Forstmeister Carl Heyrowsky & Franciska, geb. Zenker

Interesting JakeV. All I could find on him says 1945.
What is your source?

Hello,

The date and place come from Heyrowsky's Taufeintrag (in practice, a birth certificate) in the birth book of the roman-catholic church of Murau (Band 4, folio 140).

I think it would be time for a clue:

Our candidate served in the Costums Cyclist Company (C.C.C.) as part of the Shanghai Volunteer Corps (S.V.C.) during the Boxer Rebellion as sergeant.

I think, it´s time to solve:

It´s Oberleutnant Dr. Maximilian Hey.

Have a look here:

http://www.austro-hungarian-army.co.uk/biog/hey.htm

Waleed solved it within hours - he sent me a PM short after my first post.

So it would be Waleed´s turn now.
