Hi Glenn,

Returning to the shako topic, I just found these pictures of a shako I downloaded sometime ago from ebay, it indeed has precisely the same type of braid on the peak as in robert's picture. But I am not at all sure it's for a hussar! So what can you make out of them? Any thoughts?

Best Regards!

But here's a shako for the k.u.k. hussar regiment Nr. 15. As Glenn said it's without visor braid. It's from the website as shown on the picture.

Best Regards!

GFM Prinz Leopold von Bayern

Post by Glenn2438 » 31 Jan 2004, 16:56

Hi Orok,

yes that is GFM Prinz Leopold von Bayern. He was the Regimental-Proprietor of Feld-Haubitz-Regiment Nr. 7. The Shako is a common army infantry subaltern's (Leutnant or Oberleutnant). The hussar shako above is a senior NCOs.

Glenn

Thanks Glenn for clarifying the shako question.

It's interesting to see German style full medal bar on Austro-Hungarian uniform!

Now what are these cute little boxes?

Best regards!

Yes Glenn,

You are correct, and they are the officer's version. The enlisted men's version has a plain cover.

Best Regards!
