Here is Alfonso XIII in the Hungarian General uniform :

(of course he's the one to the right !)

Now I must admit to still being puzzled by that photo ; though wearing a General Uniform, it looks like he's only ranked a Colonel.
And i've seen the same photo titled "König Alfons als Oberstinhaber".
It's been argued that the photo is not clear, but...
Was he ever a KuK General, or could that be a licence for a Royaly to wear a glorious uniform ?
(by the way he was Colonel-in-Chief of an Infantry regiment)

Would you happen to have any picture of him in "his Husares de Pavia" uniform ?
Spanish Hussars had great style !

Why "a Colonel"? This rank "only Rittmeister"!!!

Well yeeeees technically you're right ;

Still knowing he was a Colonel-in-Chief (38. Infanterieregiment Alfons XIII., König von Spanien), I can't imagine him wearing Hauptman rank !

Does anybody know if he ever was General in the KuK Army ?
