Generalmajor Felix Vodepp's NCO Ranks?

Post by Orok » 20 Apr 2004 17:51

Hi all,

Michael Miller's Axis Biographical Research website lists Luftwaffe Generalmajor Felix Vodepp as entering the Austro-Hungarian Army as a Fahnenjunker in 1914. This is almost certainly incorrect since the Austro-Hungarian Army did not have such a rank. I would appreciate if anyone could give me the correct ranks of Vodepp before his promotion to Leutnant in 1915.

Thank you and Best Regards!

Hi Orok,

Felix Vodepp had been a Zögling at the Engineer Cadet School at Hainburg from 20 Sep 1910 to 31 July 1914. As a candidate for a regular commission he would have been appointed to the rank of Fähnrich on graduation and assignment to Pionier-Bataillon 2 on 1st August 1914. Although his entry in "Die Generale der Deutschen Luftwaffe" shows the 2nd of August 1914 as his assignment date to P.B. 2, the entry in his Wehrpass states the 1st of August. You are of course correct; he could not have held the rank of Fahnenjunker.

Glenn
