Is there any (on-line) source, where to look for relatives, serving in k.u.k. Armee?
Or is the only way to contact archive?

I suspect contacting archives is the best way to go. I'm not aware of any country that would have a full listing online.
I know you can check KIA/MIA from New Zealand conflicts at the Waioru Army Musuem on a computer there, though it's not online to my knowledge, but it doesn't show those who served and died after the war.

a few years ago i checked my own grandfathers and greatgrandfathers career at the austrian KRIEGSARCHIV, than still at the Stiftskaserne in Vienna. (By now it has moved into the new Austrian State Archives, but still exists as a seperate collection.)
I was amazed to find so many hand-written records (written in rather difficult-to-read "Kurrentschrift"-letters)of rather low subaltern officers, including all promotions and records of conduct. If your relatives have been officers you also can find them in the "Heeresschematismus", the printed annual Army List.

Hi Rhonda - The LDS has filmed some of the Austrian records. You may also find a lot of info here at PolishRoots:

It's very complicated. If you have no idea which regiment your ancestor was in or what his rank was, it's even more complicated. Also the man did not necessarily enlist in their area of residence. I was extremely lucky and found my grandfather's regiment on a postcard addressed to him during World War I. Unfortunately there isn't much that's available in English when the regiment is found. This is an area I would like to get into a little more one of these days. I would like to know exactly which battles my grandfather's regiment fought in. I know they fought in Galicia, the portion that is now in Ukraine, but I think the regiment also fought in Italy. Here is another site that may be of interest: http://www.austro-hungarian-army.co.uk/
Hope this helps, Ewa
