Note picture of dog wearing gas mask.
I wonder how that dog would be able to find wounded soldiers in poisoned areas when he was wearing a gas mask that prevented him from sniffing.

regards

Good morning Helmut,

An excellent point !

From an obscure military veterinary book:

"...suffice to say, dogs are profoundly affected by suffocating gas, ... they are apt to be victims of chemical warfare. ... "

"Veterinary Military History of the United States", Louis A. Merillat, LRC, Vet Corps, AEF, 1935
