Role of Women in WW1

#1

Post by nbrennan » 11 Jun 2010, 22:53

Hi there:
I am writing a historiography paper on the role of Women in WW1. I am consulting Gail Braybon and Penny Summerfield's book, Out of the Cage. I am wondering if anyone knows of any books that offer competing or alternative perspectives of women's role in the war. The assignment is to discuss how historians handle the topic of women in WW1, obviously I will be narrowing my focus to the region (i.e. British, French, German, etc) and topic (economic, sexuality, gender, family, etc). Braybon's book seems to focus on British women so I may stick to that.
Thanks for any help!
Nikita

A think there are a few books on this subject. You might want to make a posting on the Great War Forum. They should be able to help you.
