Not mentioned in the article, but a major piece of fabric art has got to be that US flag with the signatures of the US volunteers of the Lafayette Escadrille on the flag's white bars. (Later, in 1918, these US vols were of 103rd Pursuit Squadron.)

To me, a pillow case - - - a pillow - - - was 10 sand bags stuffed into a sand bag. That constitutes a pillow. I do have here a purchased pillowcase (small, can't be used for a pillow; had used it for a can of saddle soap and a can of Kiwi). It had a poem titled "To My Sweetheart". It was made of a fine material - either rayon or burlap.

Article mentions Helen Keller. Her father was a Confederate Army Officer.
