Casualties question French attack at Verdun 24 October 1916

Apropos The First Offensive Battle of Verdun does anyone have sources on casualties? Horne lumps the 1st and 2nd attacks together (47,000 French casualties) and Holstein (Douaumont, 2010 ed) 47,000 French casualties for the October attack. Der Weltkrieg gives "over 11,000" German casualties which leads me to wonder if the 47,000 French casualties should read 4,700?

I haven't checked the French official history, but Alistair Horne gives the French losses in October to December as 47,000 and the 11,000 figure refers to German Prisoners in December alone.
