Medical test for german soldiers

#1

Post by DavidFrankenberg » 29 May 2020, 19:16

Hi,

Did the german soldiers have to pass a medical test ?

Did the army keep a record for each soldier ?

What kind of disease were noted ? Malaria ? Syphilis ? etc.

Could we find those medical files now ?

Thank you.

As far as accessing those files now, I'm pretty sure that modern privacy laws would impose considerable hurdles (assuming that the file(s) even exist). For example I'm pretty sure that you'd need to conclusively demonstrate that you are a descendant of the person, as well as a medical need.

That is based on some research that I did on pre-WWI relative. While the laws are different from country to country, I'm pretty sure that they are similar on concept. I encourage you to try, and to share the results, but you should go into this with eyes open about what you'll have to deal with. You might want to read the following to give you an idea.
