Pre WW1 German uniform question

#1

Post by Louis XIV » 10 Jun 2020, 10:57

Hallo,
Can anyone confirm the meaning of the NUMBERS on the BUTTONS of the ÉPAULETTES in the formal uniform the German Guard-Grenadiers at the advent of WW1.

I am assuming they would refer to the company number, but I am looking for verification here.

Please refer to the picture included, your help will be much appreciated.

You are correct; they signify the wearer’s company.
