William died on 15th September 1914 at Connaught Hospital in Farnborough. He was a Private in King's Royal Rifles, Number A/3434.
Does anyone know how i can find out any more about his short military career.

Find the history of the King's Royal Rifles. Also go through the references from wikipedia. You can also go up the organization and check out the histories of it's superior units: The 6th Infantry Brigade and the 2nd Infantry division.

A few that jump out at me as possibly being helpful:
The Kings Royal Rifle Corps from the Long Long Trail web site.

If you can figure out which battalion he was in, you the "Wartime Memories Project" may be helpful.

If there were any famous people in the unit, you can also check their memoirs to see if there is anything interesting mentioned there.

They are fantastic. Thank you for your recommendation. I'm going to write up William's story so far so perhaps I can post it here.
