Ancestor died in WW1 - so many Questionmarks in my Head

Post by Anneliese1979 » 05 Sep 2023 10:39

Dear Community,

After you've been helping me so wonderfully with my Great-grandfather's Gestapo-History, I wonder if you would please help me again with another Ancestor.

His Name was

Albert Hermann (Hermann Albert) Fuhrmeister

*:1 AUG 1878 Beuchte, Goslar, Niedersachsen, Deutschland

+:20 JAN 1918 Militärgemeinde Coblenz, Coblenz, Rheinland, Preussen

By now I don't know much about military things. I would like to know his Division, where he has been fighting and so on. I've already contacted the Bundesarchiv Freiburg but no answer until now and I can't find other sources.

Would you please help me to understand and find some more Information?

Thank you!

Ann

According to his family tree on Ancestry he is listed as being an Unteroffizier with Ersatz-Bataillon Reserve-Infanterie-Rgt 91 at the time of his death in a Hilfslazarett.

Thank you! I don't know why I didn't find it.

Maybe it's a silly Question, but as I said I don't know much about Military things by now:
How comes that someone from Prussia serves in a Bavarian Division?
Was that common practice at that time?

Thank you very much! And have a great day!

Ann
