Looking for infos on Serbian Riverine Forces or Navy in WWI

a.) "Timok"
b.) "Jadar"
c.) "Sloboda" (mit angeblich russischer Crew??)
d.) "Pobeda"
e.) "Sveti Djordje"

When WW1 broke out, the Serbians formed a small and impovised Riverine Flotilla, which took part in some battles on the Danube and the Sava Rivers.
Its Riverine Flotilla consisted of:
one armored boat
five river motor boats ( two of them were British, one armed with with torpedoes, two with Russian crew)
two armored tugboats
three auxiliary patrol boats
one medical service boat
River Naval Infantry Company
three British Coastal Torpedo Batteries
and other smaller vessels.
In organizational way it was subordinated to Troop Command Belgrade.
Its main base with workshops was in Belgrade (Cukarica).
At the beginning of war it layed many mines, especially in Sava River and one of them caused sinking of Austro-Hungarian River Monitor Temes on 13.X.1914.
On 23.IV.1915 was also used for the first time the river torpedo boat, when they attacked anchored Austrian river monitors near Zemun and forced them to retreat further back to Danube River.

Hallo Michi,
Zvonimir
Are there any additional infos on the Serbian Riverine Forces or the Serbian Navy during WWI??

Michi,
There is a chapter (9) in Paul Halpern's book "A Naval History of World War I" which deals with the "naval" fighting on the Danube. Footnote 26: Information on Serbian vessels is scanty, but by September they apparently had the armoured motor boats 'Dalmatia' (1-37mm revolver cannon, 1-MG); Pobeda (1-37mm revolver cannon), the latter under the command of a Russian lieutenant; and the 'Sveti George"; and motorboats 'Galeb' and 'Yadar'. A Russian boat, 'Sloboda', is also mentioned. Translation of report by Major Milan Nikolitch, Engineering Adviser on Staff of Defence of Belgrade to (Serbian) Headquarters, 20 September 1915, PRO, Adm137/1141, ff. 362-64. (PRO is the Public Records Office at Kew, London).
Hope this helps.
