I'm at a loss here. From where did you take the idea that these were German batteries?

Hello to all :D; a little more................................

The incident of "Deutschland" in Ibiza - May 1937.

At 18:40 hours the alarms sounded when four Republican destroyers and two light cruisers, the Libertad and Mendez-Nuñez were observed approaching to the spot; immediately were reported two planes 2 km astern, attacking from the sun at an altitude of 1,000 m. Two 50 kg bombs hit the Deutschland while the destroyers, which initially approached the German Panzerschiff, as to launch torpedoes, opened inaccurate fire with their bow weapons, the grenades fell short. The first bomb fell starboard on the roof of the gunhouse III of 15 cm, splinters pierced the fuel tank of the seaplane on the catapult. Aviation gasoline burned in the area of the Senior NCOs mess. A motor boat and the aircraft were destroyed.

The second bomb had a devastating effect, penetrating up to the tween deck at the height of the frame 116, the explosion and subsequent fire destroyed the upper deck between frames 94 and 145. A stream of fire lit the oil and fuel beyond an open bulkhead door at frame 121 and this fire spread quickly. The ready magazine of 15 cm in the bow wasflooded immediately as a precaution. The worst casualties occurred among the crew of turret "A", and this happened about twenty minutes before these weapons were trained at the approaching Republicans destroyers, which ceased fire and drove away when the ready ammunition of 15 cm of starboard battery of 15 cm exploded at 19:30 hours. At the time of the disaster the Deutschland had no alertness and her anti-aircraft guns probably were not manned - a serious omission after the warning in Mallorca a few days before.

At 19:35 hours the situation was under control, allowing the Deutschland to sail in order to meet with Admiral Scheer offshore Formentera. The list of casualties was 31 dead and 110 wounded, 71 of them seriously, which mostly were burned.
