Slightly confused as usual :milwink: After checking the linked site, how can you tell he's an Oberstleutnant and not a Major. I can see the difference between oberleutnant and lower ranks having 6-point stars (so can't be a leutnant). Hauptmann and higher have 8-point stars and a major would have 2 of these, an oberstleutnant 3. Is the link wrong? http://www.wehrmacht-lexikon.de/luftwaf ... eichen.php

I am following the spanish rank.
Legion Condor rules change the stars sequence.
Really a LC Major had two eight-pointed stars ( Lt.Col in Spanish Army ), the change gives the same stars ( 3 eight-pointed stars )
to an Oberstleutnant and an Oberst. A waffenfarbe is introduced too.
My old sources did not indicate these changes : https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic ... s#p1776008

These new tables will be useful in the future.
( Note how only Oberst and Generals wear the rank on the cuff ).
