Re: Republican destroyers
The correct names are:
Sánchez Barcáiztegui
José Luis Díez
Almirante Ferrándiz
Alcalá Galiano
Almirante Valdés
Gravina
Escaño
Císcar
And just in case someone doesn't know, the Alsedo class included another destroyer, the Velasco, but it remained in rebel hands.

Hello here a very beautifull picture (Adam Werka) of the brave José Luis Díez in her fight against the cruiser Canarias in the night 30.-31.12.1938. Enjoy!

Re: Republican destroyers
Hi all,
According to all sources of the net, the Churruca-class destroyers were armed with 5x120mm Vickers-SECN Mod.D (first 7 destroyers) or 4-5x120mm Vickers-SECN Mod.F guns.
Were these Mod.F guns of the last destroyers the same model as installed on heavy cruiser Canarias and Baleares as AA artillery?
Here an image from the net at San Carlos Works: 120mm Vickers guns. For destroyers or for heavy cruisers ??

Re: Republican destroyers
Nodoby for my last question??
Well, I have some doubts about this image (Sorry, I do no remember the exact web source)
According to photocaption, Canarias cruiser, but I think that the 120mm AA guns of Canarias never had this type of gun shield.
Furthermore, these shields were mounted on the Canarias cruiser in the postwar and I think this photo was taken during the Civil War (because it has a black stripe painted on the chimney), so my conclusion is that it is the Baleares.
Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Republican destroyers
I recall reading the memoir of a RN sailor who was on the Neutrality Patrol and noticed how incredibly wealtherbeaten and worn the Spanish DDs were when he observed them returning from sorties. Of course he mentioned his own flotilla ships would appear similar only a few months in the future once the RN's own war started and ships overworked.

Hello to all
; a complement and doubt ...............................
Spanish destroyer.
Source: http://www.ebay.de/itm/2-x-fotos-Spanis ... true&rt=nc
According to the source, the photo shows the destroyer "Teruel", but I have my doubts since the profile of "Teruel" (ex-Guglielmo Pepe) does not match (the photo shows two turrets type Churruca??) Any ideas? Cheers. Raúl M

Re: Republican destroyers
Yes, it is a Churruca-class destroyer, and certainly not the Teruel.
