Propaganda poster "Voy a luchar por tu porvenir"

I recently found online a propaganda poster by the Spanish Republican government with the writing "Voy a luchar por tu porvenir" and it depicts a little kid being held hostage by an German soldier. What is the message being conveyed by the poster "Voy a luchar por tu porvenir"?

He is not a German soldier, but a Republican one, fighting for a future of his young son.
