I do not know much about the effects of tanks in the Spanish Civil War. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best military history / tank history of the Spanish Civil War?

Can you read Spanish? About tank operations in the Spanish Civil War, I don't think there is anything better than Los Medios Blindados en la Guerra civil Española by Artemio Mortera Pérez. It studies all the operations in which armoured vehicles took part in the SCW. Four volumes divided by theater of operations: Norte, Andalucía y Centro, and Levante, Aragon y Cataluña (in two parts).

If your main interest is the development of operations in which armoured forces were involved, then Los Medios Blindados en la Guerra civil Española is far, far more detailed. If you want a quick overview of the development and structure of the armoured forces of the SCW, then Tank Combat in Spain: Armored Warfare During the Spanish Civil War 1936–1939 is a better choice.

There are also some articles available for free in the web that you may find interesting (if you don't know them already). For example:
http://bobrowen.com/nymas/soviet_tank_o ... the_sp.htm
https://www.benning.army.mil/armor/earm ... dill20.pdf
Be careful, however, as there are some other articles in the ARMOR magazine (even one written by Antonio J. Candil) that contain some significant mistakes.
