Kirill Khenkin and Le Cas du Rudolf Abel

#1

A Soviet defector named Kirill Khenkin published a book titled Le Cas du Rudolf Abel after the Colonel Abel trial. He claimed to have been in the NKVD in Spain, working with "Nikolsky", i.e. Alexander Orlov, the man arrested in the US calling himself "Rudolf Abel", who he said was actually named William Fisher, and a man actually named Rudolf Abel.
Now it turned out that he was correct about the man arrested in the US and calling himself "Rudolf Abel"; he was born in Britain to immigrant German parents. His tombstone in Moscow gives both names.

The problem is that Alexander Orlov claimed not to have recognized "Rudolf Abel" when he was arrested. There is currently a debate on the honesty and the motives of Orlov.
Has anyone attempted to investigate and/or refute Khenkin? The book has not, as far as I know, been translated into English (it's in French); has anyone here read it?
Thank you for your help.
