El Campesino beleived that they refused to help him in Teruels defense and breakout of encirclement there so as to elimiate him.

Calvo Sotelo's address in Madrid

Post by asiaticus » 16 Apr 2004 02:22

Now that is kind of obscure. Calle Velazquez in Madrid is where Jose Calvo Sotelo lived when he was taken away and murdered.

So it would seem. :^)

Franco was able to releive the siege of the Alcazar in 1936. He was unable to relieve the siege of another place in the mountainsof the Sierra Morrena to the south in April of 1937. It was a place held by 250 rebel Civil Guards, 100 Falangists and about 1000 rebel citizens and their families, under the command of Captain Cortes. What was the place that fell May 1, 1937?

Bonus question: What secret did Captain Cortes take to his grave?

Santuario de Santa María de la Cabeza...
It is not know if it was Captain Cortes or another Guardia Civil who buried in an unknown place the Image of " Santa María de la Cabeza" to avoid profanation...Still not found
