Interesting clue. I believe botas de agua are called Wellingtons in England. Did he perhaps record a victory (or victories) against this type of aircraft in WW2? My guess is Heinz 'Pietsch' Bretnutz who was a Legion Condor veteran and later shot down a Wellington over France.
Cheers,

Well, Bretnütz had two victories with J88 in the SCW didn't he? (I have to admit that after checking his picture this guy doesn't look anything like him though). And your hint showed a picture of Wellingtons. At least give me some credit for creativity.

Only in England. And I'm not in England.

hi,

your last hint leads to Timofey Khryukin, but he looks leaner in pictures than "your man"

Yes, my mistake. I took the order without checking for "Hero of the Soviet Union"

Is the man Volkan Semyonovich Goranov, Bulgarian SB 2 pilot? (flew also Potez 540)

Happens to be the only SB 2 -pilot of SCW, which I know. One should of course know more about bomber, recce, liason and transport pilots. It is just so that fighter pilots get more attention, are somehow more fascinating and easier in remember.

No, he is not Goranov. The man in the picture is arguably the most famous SB 2 pilot of the war. Anyway, the award should be the definitive hint.
