The man of the pic is Vicente Rojo.

He was the bestSpanish miliatar of 20th century. He was in the Madrid Front HQs during Franco's first assaults to the city. Then he was promoted to the Central HQs from where he comanded all Popular Army. He designed operations like Belchite, Ebro and Teruel.
He manage to hold the initiative during almost all war against Franco in clear inferiority.
