German weapons in the civil war

#1

Post by WAKEN » 07 Sep 2004, 01:28

I'm looking for information on the number of weapons that were taken to Spain by the Condor Legion or were supplied by Germany to the Nationalists.

So far I have found out that 180 Pz I tanks and 180 37mm PaK 35/36 were used by the Condor Legion. The Condor Legion also had 20mm and 88mm AA guns but I don't know how many.

A famous unit of Ju 87 in Spain was the "Jolanthe Kette".

It should be noted that "supplied by Germany", "supplied by the Condor Legion" and "used by the Condor Legion" are different things. For example, of the 122 Pz-I tanks supplied by Germany, only 72 were provided by the Condor Legion and the other 50 were obtained through the HISMA. And then, all those 122 tanks were mainly used by Spanish units, so really the Condor Legion did not use them much.
Regarding the PaK 35/36, 52 were obtained through the Condor Legion and 250 through the HISMA, for a total of 302.

The Condor Legion took to Spain 71 x 88mm and 91 x 20mm AA guns; additionally, 8 x 88mm and 25 x 20mm were supplied by Germany through HISMA.
