Hell, you're a mod Carl. Go ahead and lock up it up. Just as well 8-) , I highly advise burying this corpse, simply because it is too old a topic, to start anew.

Maybe I should start a "Consolidated Pearl Harbor" thread?

IDK, I really think Pearl Harbor has been done to death. About the only thing of interest now , is newly found or here before undiclosed, info, like when classified documents are finally released or new film footage is discovered. That "new? footage of the Arizona blowing up is pretty amazing.

Today, I don't see anyone really trying to put all the pieces together. I think Costello was onto something, but he died.

Costello?
John Costello- "Pacific War" , "Days of Infamy". Australian (IIRC?)writer/journalist

The Revisionist answer to Gordon Prange and all his canned MacArthur/ working-for-MacAthur-historian stuff I guess  . Not as far-fetched like Stinnet, more an improved Toland . Did alot of research at NARA. Corrected a lot of errors of Stinnet and Toland and Prange.

Died from a Shellfish allergy on a plane a few years back.

I'll have to dig into those, I have both. I usually only use secondary sources for recreational reading.

OK, I highly suggest "Days Of Infamy" and its footnotes. Also read the preface and what he says there and who he mentioned as helping , as it gives credit to the NARA specialists and their own POV, whom you will recognize.

I am myself am kinda suprised you never bumped into John Costello, at Suitland, MD.

I would punch out some names you would know, but I can't dig though my boxed library to find "Days of Infamy" now, and my memory of such things is too far gone other than just "guess" now, out of many green book writers, and/or archivists attached to NARA,than i know of or have read, over the years..

Surely you will understand, once you read the preface and credits of "Days Of Infamy".

:) , yea + shipping. One of these days  , I might wing through Amazon and find a few hundred books I want at a penny to a dollar a piece, and spend above the minimum to avoid shipping. Surely , I can find a 1/2+ ton of books I would like to have for $100 or less :D

Trouble with that it, is I would probably be buying many books I already own  , I have already done that many times in the past, at retail.

Of course 99 cents for "Days of infamy" sounds like a good deal compared to me battling my "library" of book boxes nowadays. I have too many back problems to even move around boxes anymore. Which sometimes explains my woeful lack of being able to provide sources in some debates.

Read just the reviews gives me the impression that he's gone the "I had to FOIA this stuff and you're seeing it for the first time!" route. I've seen that kind of book before.

Same guy, different sound stage

In any event it doesn't matter who said it. If history channel showed Stukas bombing Ford Island it has to be true
