Good afternoon all,

Article about the possible remains of lost WWII US military aviators in Burma.

The Defense Department's lab in Hawaii will try to confirm.

Article mentions from 1942-45 Burma was part of the air route India to China. The land route was lost when the Japanese captured Lashio.

.......

Sidebar: As solemn a matter of KIA is - and I'm active in this arena - there's a lighter side to Burma. There used to be a comic strip titled "Terry and the Pirates". To abbreviate: her name was "Burma" and the les was "Sanjak". The best cartoon pictures of brown leather, fleece lined, with fleece collar flight jackets......... They don't make the garments like they used to.

Good afternoon all,

Above link is an area map.

Note at right of flight path, at arrowhead, is Kunming, China.

At left section of aircraft map symbol's flight path is Ft Hertz, now Putao.

In the coral/pink section - the area controlled by Japan - is Mandalay and Lashio.
