The attached article describes the US Army’s 1944 operation of the Mandalay section of the Burma Railway using Jeeps for motive power. The original article was printed in the September 1953 edition of the US Army and Navy Military magazine ‘Military Review’.

Re: British & US Army Jeep Railway Operation In Burma - 1944
The attached article describes the British Army’s 1944 development and operation of the Mandalay section of the Burma Railway using Jeeps for motive power.
The original article was printed in the December 1946 issue of the British Army magazine ‘Royal Engineers Journal’. This copy of it was printed in the May 1947 edition of the US Army and Navy Military magazine ‘Military Review’.
This section of the Burma Railway was later turned over to the US Army and operated by them using the same Jeep motive power. The railway motive power was later changed to use US Army steam locomotives.
The US Army operation of this railway using Jeeps is discussed in the first posted article about this subject. The original subject title was US Army Jeep Railway Operation In Burma - 1944
My 4th and 5th attachments are better quality copies of the photos shown on the 3rd page of the first article.

Thanks for posting. Didn't even know such a thing as a "Jeep Railway" was possible.
