Post by Richard Stone » 29 Dec 2022 19:11

The attached article discusses the tactics and methods the US Marine Corp adopted for jungle operations and patrols during the 1942 to the mid-1944 period Pacific island campaigns.

The original report was printed in the July 1944 issue of the Marine Corp Gazette.

This copy is a summary of the original report and was printed in the October 1944 edition of the USA professional military reference magazine ‘Military Review’.

At least some of that is a repeat of experience in Nicaragua & Hati. Tho in both those places most of the combat was in rural rather than 'jungle' terrain. large patches of forrest & farms or pastures intermingled.
