British 14th Army Recapture Of Transport Elephants In Burma - 1941 to 1944

Post by Richard Stone » 01 Jun 2023 09:37

The attached short article discusses the British 14th Army's efforts in the Burma theater to recapture from the Japanese the special trained elephants used for transportation and material handling.

The recapture work occurred during the period of 1941 to 1944. At times the work was performed behind the Japanese lines and it included recruiting the services of the experienced elephant handlers.

The article was printed in the February 1946 edition of the USA professional military reference magazine.
