Greek document signed by George II

Post by Ian Sayer » 03 Dec 2019 17:53

I have had this document for many years and never had it translated. I believe it is signed by George II , King of Greece, possibly when he was a Prince of Greece. The document was issued to Argentinian Foreign Minister and Nobel Prize winner Saavedza Lamas. I am not sure what he is receiving or if there is a date anywhere on the document. The document is countersigned by the Greek Foreign Minister. I am not sure who that was but any help with the date of issue will help to identify him.
Can anybody help please? Thank you.

I think paragraph above the signature reads:
In Athens on 29th of March 1937
If we become increasingly humble about how little we know, we may be more eager to search.

It says it is a "μεγαλόσταυρος του ημετέρου τάγματος του Γεωργίου Α". I don't know much about such stuff but with the help from wikipedia we learn that is the "Grand Cross" of the "Order of George I".
