Unknown casualty station in Belarus

#1

Post by history1 » 02 Jul 2020, 17:44

Hi,

I´m trying to help a guy who lost his uncle in Belarus. The problem is that I can´t read for 100% the name of the village/city. It´s transliterated as Ssanstachewki but that´s sure incorrect. To me it seems to be "Bachtorhewki".
Any input is as always much appreciated.
TIA!

According to http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de, in February 1944, GR 528 of ID 299, was in the area of Scharki, S of Witebsk.
N of Scharki I can see Ssawtschenki on 1:300000 German map. (Now Savchenki).
