Help with text in Sütterlin (four short ones)
Hello,
I have obtained som images taken by a german soldier during "Büffel Unterhemen" in Norwegen, 1940. They are taken in a place named Hellemobotn, when the soldiers were on their way to assist the german troops in Narvik.
Each image has some text on the backside. Some I can decode, and some not.
The images, so you can see the context.
"Helemobotn-Fjord, der ... gegen Narvik"
"Helemobotn (Lager .. Narvik . ...)"
". ...Ju 52" is clear. What does it say before that?
The text below is only partial, but it must have been "Büffel-Unthm", short for Buffel Unternehmen.
This is clearly "Büffel-Unternehmen".
I just included it for completeness
Any help is very much appreciated!
Regards,
Anders

Hello Armin,
Thanks again for your effort.
Wrt "Pi. Kmp. Ostermann", I found this:
"In 1940 it took part in the invasion of Norway, during the invasion it fought in central Norway and later travelled through the wilderness from Trondheim to Narvik in an attempt to rescue the besieged 3. Gebirgs-Division."
Part of 2. Gebirgs-Division was:
"Gebirgs-Pionier-Bataillon 82 (Hauptmann E. Osterman, ?- Hauptmann Flachberger)"
Source : http://www.axishistory.com/axis-nations ... s-division
So "Pionier Kompanie Ostermann" kind of makes sense to me... Ostermann leading this Kompanie during this effort?
But I am not familiar with the wehrmacht and how they were organized, so it (not very qualified) guess-work.
Regards,
Anders

Hi Anders,
Your assumptions seem to be correct.
Only a company from Gebirgs-Pionier-Bataillon 82 took part in the operation (as a part of battalion "Sorko").
There is a chart here: "Entsatz" in Narvik

Hi Anders,
I give you the 3rd one.
I read "Verpflegs.", which is used by the writer as a short form for Verpflegung.
So you can translate it as: Supply Ju 52.
Best Regards
Armin

Hello Greg and Armin,
Thank you.
For the 3rd one I was quite certain that it ended in "..flugs", been guessing at "umflugs" etc.. So thanks for finding the correct wording! Makes much more sense than my guessing.
My family is from the place shown in the pictures, my father is born and raised in one of the houses.. The Büffel Unternehmen never became significant for the battle of Narvik, but is still interesting for me.
I wish you a Happy New Year!
Anders
